Roma beat Fulham to Torosidis signature

Roma have beaten Fulham to the signing of Olympiakos defender Vasilis Torosidis, can reveal.
The Greece international, who plays at right-back, will undergo a medical imminently after the Serie A club agreed to buy him for a fee of 2.5 million [£2.1m].

Fulham declared an interest in Torosidis earlier this month, but Roma stepped up their interest to win the race ahead of the Londoners and a string of clubs on the Continent.
The 27-year-old recently announced he would not be renewing his contract with the Greek Super League leaders, which expires in June, with Fulham registering their interest before the intervention of the Giallorossi.
The defender, who can play in central midfield and on the right flank as well as at full-back, will move to Stadio Olimpico this month subject to passing a medical.
The Greek giants have decided to cash in on the player rather than risk losing him on a free transfer this summer.
