QPR have enquired about signing Peter Odemwingie on loan from West Brom this month, Goal.com understands.

Rangers manager Harry Redknapp is looking to recruit at least one forward in the transfer window and has identified the Nigerian as a proven Premier League performer who could potentially be available.

Odemwingie has fallen down the pecking order at West Brom but sources have said that the Midlands club would prefer to off-load the forward permanently rather than loan him out.

With Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson still out injured, Redknapp has relied on Djibril Cisse to lead the line for the relegation-threatened Premier League club.

Odemwingie has been used almost exclusively in a wide attacking role under Steve Clarke this season, with Shane Long and on-loan Romelu Lukaku sharing the centre-forward role.

The 31-year-old has responded with four goals in 17 appearances, 12 of which have been starts, although he has not scored since mid-November.

Odemwingie has scored 29 league goals in 79 appearances for West Brom since his move from Lokomotiv Moscow in the summer of 2010.

Fulham tried to sign him 12 months ago but are no longer believed to be interested.
