The Germany international centre-back has intimated that he has been told of the Catalans' intent to sign him, and is eager to hold talks with the Copa del Rey holders
The 25-year-old has spent 13 years in Swabia and is under contract until 2014. However, according to Bild, he has an exit clause that could see him leave Stuttgart for a sum of €10 million.
And he admits that he is very much interested in holding talks with the Catalan giants, and says any player would jump at the opportunity to move to Camp Nou.
"I've heard that I'm a candidate for Barca," he said. "If an offer comes from Barcelona, you have to get together and have talks."
However, the centre-back admitted that as of yet, the Copa del Rey winners have not made their interest concrete, and that he accordingly is preparing to serve as Stuttgart's captain next season.
"There is no offer, so I'm fully focused on the start of the season with VfB. I've prepared so that I'll be able to train perfectly normally on Monday.
"There is no direct contact, so I don't want to talk much about it."
