Southampton manager Alan Pardew is reportedly eager to take 18-year-old Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong on loan this season.

Another young Gunner, 20-year-old Mark Randall, is also a loan target - for Championship side Hull City. Tigers' manager Nigel Pearson is apparently hoping he can persuade Arsene Wenger to let him take the midfielder to the KC Stadium.

Preston manager Darren Ferguson is also close to a Bosman deal for former Norwich City midfielder Darel Russell.

Ferguson said: "Darel wants to come, I've spoken to him at length, he knows how I want us to play and how he would fit in."
