Paul the Octopus, who passed away on Tuesday after gaining worldide fame for correctly predicting eight World Cup finals matches this summer, is to be replaced by a new French Paul at the Sea Life centre in Oberhausen.

The successor, born near the French city of Montpellier, is to retain the name Paul and will be introduced to the tank and the public next week.

The original Paul, who was born in England, died of natural causes and the Sea Life centre have moved swiftly to secure the signature of his French replacement.
