thumbnail Hello,

La Furia Roja claim their first ever World Cup win...

Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has praised his players after their 1-0 extra-time victory over Netherlands in Johannesburg handed them the 2010 World Cup title.

With the game scoreless after 90 minutes it took an Andres Iniesta strike deep into the second half of extra-time to give la Furia Roja their first ever World Cup triumph.

"It was a very difficult game but our players are fantastic. They have managed to win it first time. It is true that they [Netherlands] had chances to score but we have had four clear chances," he is quoted as saying by AS.

"We owe everything to them, these great players. We have had 50 days without incident, I feel very proud of the players. They also know and appreciate what we have achieved in a group that has great values and principles. This is invaluable for Spain. It's a very happy day for all the Spanish people."
