Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas will be fit for Spain's semi-final clash with Germany after being assessed by the squad's doctors.

The Gunners midfielder fell awkwardly on his shoulder during the quarter-final victory over Paraguay on Saturday, but both he and Carles Puyol — who was experiencing blurred vision after being struck with ball during the same game — have been declared fit.

Puyol should therefore be ready to take his place alongside Gerard Pigue at the heart of Spain's rearguard when they face the impressive Germans in Durban this week.

Fabregas is yet to start to start a game in the tournament, but has impressed with some useful cameo displays from the bench in South Africa.
