Spain winger and Barcelona youth product Pedro Rodriguez has emphasised the need for la Furia Roja to hold great respect for Paraguay ahead of their quarter-final clash on Saturday.

"Paraguay is a national team that is in the quarter-finals by their own merit," Pedro said, according to Marca.

"They have done very well in South America and they need to be respected. We cannot underestimate anyone. They work very well together and any team one faces in the World Cup quarter-finals is going to be difficult."

Pedro also praised fellow Spain and Barcelona team-mate David Villa for his four goals in the World Cup.

"He has not surprised anyone. Every year he has demonstrated that he is a goalscorer," he noted.

"He is in great form and it is a pleasure to share a team with him. We are very content with his play."
