English referee Howard Webb has been denied a quarter-final spot at World Cup 2010 by FIFA.
The Rotherham-born official has been in great form at the tournament and is the sole reprsentative from his country after Fabio Capello's side crashed out of the tournament.
Webb's dream of continuing in the competition isn't over, however. If two South American teams reach the final on July 11 he is a contender to come back into the frame and follow in Jack Taylor's footsteps, after he officiated the 1974 showpiece.
FIFA have selected just one European referee for the last-eight, with Portugal's Olegario Benquerenca of Portugal set to take charge of Friday night's fixture between Uruguay and Ghana.
