Striker picked up a knock in Round of 16 victory over the United States

Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan is confident that he will be able to play in Friday’s World Cup quarter-final against Uruguay.

Rennes star could not take part in Ghana’s last two training sessions after suffering an ankle injury in his country’s 2-1 extra time victory over the United States in the Round of 16.

However, the 24-year-old believes that he will be fit and ready to try and fire Ghana into the semi-finals.

"The ankle is getting better. I had a knock during the game last time,” Gyan told Press Association Sport.

"Yesterday I felt something bad and I had to go out (of training) and rest today as well.

"But tomorrow I think I will be fine.

"I will be fine for the game on Friday. It is nothing really bad. I need about two days off and I will be fine."

Gyan has scored three times in the Black Stars’ four games, converting penalties against Serbia and Australia in the group stage and scored the brilliant extra-time winner against the Americans.

With Uruguay standing in the way of a place in the last four, Gyan insists that Ghana are ready to play.

"Uruguay are a difficult side but we don't care who we are going to play against. We are ready to play against anybody."
