Forward not happy at withdrawal...
The Arsenal superstar cut a petulant figure after he was withdrawn 10 minutes before the end of the 2-1 win against Slovenia. After seeing his number on the substitutes' board, he trudged off the pitch and remonstrated publicly with the Dutch supremo.
Speaking to reporters after the match, Van Persie defended his actions, stating they were borne of frustration after only grabbing one goal in four games.
"What I said to Van Marwijk was not over the top," Van Persie said.
"I just want to be important to the team and score. I wanted to stay on as we would have had more space with Slovakia chasing an equaliser, and I felt that I could profit from that.
"I have hardly scored and that was gnawing at me, although I played well."
