Chile might have lost their last match of the group stage 2-1 against Spain, but this hasn't affected the individual form of defenders Gary Medel and Waldo Ponce. The duo helped Chile to concede no more than three shots on target and still sit atop of the 2010 World Cup Castrol Index after the group stage.

Germany captain Philipp Lahm has climbed to third position following his strong performance in the Nationalelf's 1-0 win against Ghana, while Argentina full-back Gabriel Heinze has returned to the top five after his side's win against Greece. Finally, yet another Chilean, Gonzalo Jara, completes the top five.

Joan Capdevila and Antolin Alcaraz managed to hold on to their top 10 positions, but three new players have made their way into the top 10. Uruguay star Maximiliano Pereira currently sits seventh, while Spain and Barcelona centre-back Gerard Pique is the new number 10.

However, the most surprising new name in the top 10 is Algeria glovesman Rais M'Bolhi. The shot-stopper was in superb form in his side's 1-0 loss against USA, but his World Cup has still come to an end after the group stage.

The Castrol Index uses objective analysis and highly advanced technology to measure every pass, tackle and move on the field and assess whether it has a positive or negative impact on a team's ability to score or concede a goal.
