World Cup 2010: Mexico's Rafa Marquez & Carlos Salcido insist luck was on Argentina's side
El Tri crash out in round of 16...
By Paul Madden
Two goals from Carlos Tevez, including one blatant offside effort, and one from Gonzalo Higuain put the South Americans in the driving seat before Javier Hernandez gave El Tri faint hope with a fine solo effort.
"Going out of a World Cup gives us no joy. We played well, we sacrificed a lot, but not enough, the luck was not on our side, we were not strong up front, " Marquez told the assembled press after the game.
"It's another failure but I hope that someday the team may reach that fifth game."
Salcido believed his team played well but struggled to recover from Argentina's offside opener.
"We're out of the World Cup. The team started well, organised, trying to counter the game of Argentina and we were going well up to the first goal. It was hard to recover from that early goal. This is football, luck plays a part and Argentina had it and we did not," he noted.
