Germany's emerging star Mesut Ozil's grandmother dies ahead of World Cup 2010 clash vs England
Bereavement disrupts build-up to big game
By Matt Monaghan
Oezil's grandma was plagued by health problems and died during the night in a hospital in Turkish city Bolu. The midfielder was informed about the news in the German team's hotel in Pretoria.
The funeral will take place on Saturday in Turkey and Oezil's father, Mustafa, will attend. It is not yet known whether the Werder Bremen star will travel to Turkey too, but he is expected to stay in the German camp in South Africa.
Oezil has been one of the star players of the Nationalelf at the 2010 World Cup. He scored the winner in Germany's 1-0 victory over Ghana and put in a man of the match performance in the 4-0 triumph against Australia.
