Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has been praised by coach Milovan Rajevac for his cool display against Germany.

Boateng has been public enemy number one in Germany, the country of his birth, for a tackle on Chelsea's Michael Ballack in the FA Cup final last month which ruled the national captain out of the World Cup.

There were even reports that his half-brother Jerome, who was on the opposite side for Germany on Wednesday, had broken off contact with him because of the incident.

Due to the uproar caused there were concerns that he would be targeted or provoked by his opponents, but Boateng kept a cool head and impressived in the defeat.

"Kevin-Prince Boateng played very well, it was a fantastic performance, not just in this match but in other matches," Rajevac said.

"It was important not to get cautioned and not to lose his cool. The German players were polite with him and his performance was truly excellent.

"His performance proves we can rely on him in this tournament, so my impression was truly positive as far as he is concerned."

Ghana take on the United States in Rustenburg on Saturday.
