Former England international Jamie Redknapp convinced Wayne Rooney is set to ignite at World Cup 2010
Star striker ready to shine again...
By Matt Monaghan
The Manchester United striker has cut a frustrated figure at the tournament so far, having yet to get on the scoresheet in any game despite coming off the back of a stellar club campaign. This anger boiled over with a rant at the Three Lions supporters after the 0-0 draw with Algeria, but the 24-year old looked much better during yesterday's vital 1-0 victory against Slovenia.
With Sunday's titanic second round clash with Germany fast approaching, Redknapp told
Sky Sports News he was convinced Rooney will be back to his best.
"People have been talking about leaving him out. Do me a favour, you can't leave Wayne Rooney out of this team," Redknapp said.
"You know in one second, everything can change for that young man and it will do now.
"It's a little bit of a lack of confidence at the moment, but it will come and I think that is a real positive for England because we've almost done it without Wayne Rooney.
"If somehow he can found his form and a little bit of genius that he has that will only make us a better team."
