thumbnail Hello,

Serbian thanks South African fans for their support...

Ghana became the first African nation in the 2010 World Cup to progress from the group stage to the second round despite losing 1-0 to Germany in their final group game at the Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg on Wednesday evening.

The defeat didn't matter in the end as Australia won 2-1 against Serbia in the other Group D match, implying that Ghana edged the Aussies on goal difference to finish second in the group.

Speaking after the match, Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac said that he was delighted that his side were supported by the South Africans. He has been quoted by Reuters as saying, "I hope the majority of South Africans will continue to support us... I hope we will benefit from massive support here in South Africa.

"We've created wonderful chances to score but we had a bit of bad luck and we failed to hit home. Perhaps we lacked a bit of concentration...I hope we can score goals going forward."

The 56-year-old also looked ahead to their last 16 tie against the USA, who finished top of Group C earlier on Wednesday.

"We have our next match with the USA so we have to forget the game against Germany and move on."
