World Cup 2010: Jamie Carragher & Emile Heskey start for England in crucial World Cup 2010 clash with Algeria
David James also gets nod in goal
By Matt Monaghan
In a widely speculated move, the 64-year old has also dropped Robert Green after his calamitous mistake in last weekend's 1-1 draw with Algeria. James' demotion had been rumoured to have caused unrest in the camp and he will now have the chance to prove he should be the man between the sticks for the rest of the tournament.
A groin injury for King has rewarded Carragher's international u-turn with a starting spot alongside John Terry. Up-front, Capello has resisted the temptation to bring in Tottenham Hotspur's Jermain Defoe and has stuck with the tried and tested partnership between Wayne Rooney and Heskey.
For Algeria, head coach Rabah Saadane has followed Capello's example and dropped his previous first choice goalkeeper after an error in the opening match. Manchester United trialist Rais M'Bolhi will attempt to not repeat Faouzi Chaouchi's damaging slip.
England: James; Johnson, Terry, Carragher, Cole; Lennon, Lampard, Barry, Gerrard; Heskey, Rooney
Algeria: M’Bohli; Yahia, Bougherra, Halliche, Belhadj; Boudebouz, Matmour, Lacen, Yebda, Ziani; Kadir.
