World Cup 2010: England goalkeeper Robert Green keen to bounce back after gaffe against USA
Shot stopper eager to redeem himself…
By Danny Hart
Steven Gerrard opened the scoring for Fabio Capello’s side after just four minutes but it was the 30-year-old’s error that let the Americans back into the game.
Green appeared to have the situation under control after Clint Dempsey had tried an audacious strike from the edge of the area but the ball somehow squirmed past the England keeper.
The West Ham United man, who was selected to start ahead of David James and Joe Hart, felt confident for the remainder of the game after his mistake and is keen to move on.
"It's done, it happened," he told BBC Radio Five Live. "It's not something you can allow to affect yourself. In the next 50 minutes, I felt confident, I felt fine.
"It's about being steady and taking the rough with the smooth, but that's life as a goalkeeper.
"I've been in this situation before and it's about holding your head up high, facing you guys [the media] taking the flak which is going to come. That's just life."

"But, we came through. Obviously there were a lot of changes so it's good to get the result.
"Belgium are a very, very strong side who are going to be really good in the future. Vincent [Kompany] told me about them and said that they were coming good and I totally agree with him."
"[Gary] Cahill I suppose is slightly more of a concern for me because it is a jaw injury. We're desperately hoping the CT scan doesn't show any fracture and it's just going to be a bruising situation, which will be bad enough, but won't stop him taking part in the tournament. As far as John's [Terry] concerned he felt his hamstring a little bit. Again it wasn't a major thing when he came off but we still need to scan it just to be 100 per cent sure."
Suffice to say, if Cahill has broken his jaw, he won't play any part in the tournament.
