The 25-year-old was injured in a warm-up game for the World Cup in South Africa, but the knock, initially expected to have ruled Behrami out of the tournament, is not serious and will not have any bearing on his participating in the tournament, according to Swiss doctor Cuno Wetzel.
"The first images show no serious problem," Wetzel told West Ham’s official club website.
"The healing process is indeed more difficult to predict, but we are optimistic he can train again on Wednesday or Thursday."
Behrami has won 27 caps for his national side as well as scoring two goals and will hope to feature when Switzerland take on European champions Spain in their tournament opener on June 16.
