World Cup 2010: Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez willing to accept substitute role for Argentina
City man aiming for revenge...
By Steve Alexander
The Manchester City forward has been in sensational form this season, scoring 29 times since moving to Eastlands from fierce rivals Manchester United.
Tevez has found himself down the pecking order however for his country after scoring only eight times in 51 appearances for Argentina.
With only one goal during their World Cup qualifying campaign, the forward may find it hard to break into Diego Maradona's starting XI, but Tevez is willing to help in any way he can.
"My only objective is to help the national team, as it always has been," Tevez told FourFourTwo.
"If Maradona believes I can help more by playing in the second half, when opposing players are tired, I'll do my best to comply."
Tevez was part of the Argentina squad which was knocked out by Germany at the 2006 World Cup at the quarter final stage, but is confident Maradona’s side can go all the way this time around in South Africa.
He said: "I've always wanted to play for the national team and, after Germany 2006, I'd like revenge.
"We should have gone further in that World Cup and I think we can go far in this one.
"I don't think we're the favourites. I'd leave that for Spain and Brazil. We have lots of things to improve and I believe we're going to make it."

"But, we came through. Obviously there were a lot of changes so it's good to get the result.
"Belgium are a very, very strong side who are going to be really good in the future. Vincent [Kompany] told me about them and said that they were coming good and I totally agree with him."
"[Gary] Cahill I suppose is slightly more of a concern for me because it is a jaw injury. We're desperately hoping the CT scan doesn't show any fracture and it's just going to be a bruising situation, which will be bad enough, but won't stop him taking part in the tournament. As far as John's [Terry] concerned he felt his hamstring a little bit. Again it wasn't a major thing when he came off but we still need to scan it just to be 100 per cent sure."
Suffice to say, if Cahill has broken his jaw, he won't play any part in the tournament.
