Scolari: Fred is with Brazil until the end

The Fluminense striker has been out of action for two months with a thigh injury but Felipao has assured him his place in the Brazil squad is safe
Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has reassured Fred that his place in next year’s World Cup squad is safe.

The Fluminense striker hit six goals in eight internationals before suffering a thigh injury which has now kept him out of action for two months.

But Felipao has remained in close contact with the 30-year-old and has no doubt that he will lead the line as Brazil hunt a first World Cup on home soil next year.

"Fred is part of my list until the end,” Scolari told a press conference.

"I have spoken a lot with him, almost weekly.”

"We talk about football and his situation, about how his injury is coming along and how he is feeling.

“What I know is that in 15 days he will be right to play and then we can call him up again. He knows that he is important for us as a member of the squad, not only as a player."

With Fred unavailable, AC Milan forward Robinho and Chelsea’s Willian will have a chance to impress after being included in Scolari’s squad for the Gillette International Soccer Series this month.
