The 20-year-old forward is expected to join Barcelona after the 2014 World Cup but there are those within his homeland who feel he should stay at Santos
The Santos starlet is considered one of the most exciting young talents in the game and has been repeatedly linked with Barcelona.
There is a huge debate raging within his homeland over whether the forward needs to go abroad in order to realise his full potential and Cafu has now weighed in, arguing that a move to Europe would teach the 20-year-old so much about intelligent movement.
"If you take the World Club Cup final Santos played [against Barcelona], it was far too easy to mark just Neymar," the former AC Milan full-back told reporters on Tuesday. "The European players are used to facing attackers like him.
"They mark [Lionel] Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, [Wayne] Rooney, [Filippo] Inzaghi and other big-name players. For them, that's normal.
"It would therefore be good for Neymar to leave. He would feel the footprint of the European marker."
Neymar, who has already racked up eight goals in 16 appearances for Brazil, is expected to join Barca after the 2014 World Cup.
