thumbnail Hello,

Goal.com looks at who, free of suspensions and injuries, would feature in the first XI of each participant in the race to reach the tournament in Brazil in three years

ANALYSIS
By Daniel Edwards | South American Football Editor

Three years, 16 highly-charged games across the world's most football-mad continent; the South American qualifiers for the World Cup rarely fail to provide a great spectacle, and there is no reason to believe we will not be seeing similar fireworks when the competition kicks off this Friday.

Brazil's automatic qualification as hosts leaves the opportunity for no less than six South American teams to book their tickets to 2014, as the top four in the group will qualify while fifth place will play for the privilege against a Concacaf nation. Nevertheless, no team will be taking things lightly as some of the best players on the planet leave their clubs to represent national pride and achievement.

No less than three coaches will be making their competitive bows after taking over at the end of the Copa America, which means that, for Argentina, Colombia and Paraguay fans, there is a certain unknown element going into this first round of fixtures. There could well be a few surprises along the way in every side, as the marathon campaign makes or breaks a player's international career.

Below, we break down how each of the 2014 Conmebol challengers are likely to line up when their full squad is available.
