Barca man looking forward to facing club team-mates...
By Paul Macdonald
Argentine attacker Lionel Messi has spoken of how much he is anticipating facing world champions Spain on Tuesday evening, and added that it is always nice to test your abilities against the best players around.
La Furia Roja have travelled to Bueno Aires for the glamour friendly, which will see the Albiceleste superstar go head-to-head with a number of his club colleagues from Barcelona.
Speaking in an interview with Spanish daily publication Marca, Messi admitted that he was looking forward to going up against the likes of Gerard Pique, David Villa, Andres Iniesta and Xavi.
“We still do not know who the coach will start in the match yet, but the truth is that it is a very nice game to play," Messi noted.
“The stadium will be full, and it is a very nice match for the fans. We want to win the match. Argentina always comes to win in all matches, and we must take the game to Spain.”
The nations last met in November 2009, when a double from Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso was enough to hand La Roja a 2-1 victory.
