The United States will fancy their chances in their group but Mexico could face tricky opposition including El Salvador and Trinidad & Tobago as they strive to reach Brazil

The teams ranked 7-25 in the region will be joined by the five play-off winning teams from round one to comprise six groups of four teams in the second round of qualification.

The group winners will then be drawn alongside the six best-ranked teams in the region in the third round of the qualification process before the fourth round, the Hexagon, commences.

Brazil, as hosts, qualify automatically. Each of the other nine member teams will play against each other home and away in order to determine the final finishing order of qualified sides. The top four will play at the 2014 Fifa World Cup while the fifth-placed team will face an intercontinental play-off with a Concacaf nation.
