The Celtic manager praised his star striker after he found the net twice against Hibernian at Hampden Park, before Joe Ledley completed the win for a Hoops double

Celtic manager Neil Lennon hailed Gary Hooper as one of his "best signings" after the striker scored twice in their Scottish Cup final win over Hibernian.

The SPL winners completed a league and cup double at Hampden Park with the 3-0 victory against Hibs, after Joe Ledley added to Hooper’s two-goal heroics.

And Lennon, who became the first Celtic manager to win the double as both a player and a manager for the club, was delighted with his star striker’s performance.

“He's a master,” Lennon told reporters. “He's been one of my best signings. He's priceless. Hooper's the master, an absolute master."

The win saw Celtic cap off a season in which they also reached the last 16 of the Champions League, as well as winning the SPL by 16 points.

And after a marathon campaign which saw them play 60 matches throughout the season, Lennon praised the effort shown by the players alongside the support of the club’s supporters.

"It's been magnificent, we've played 60 games this season," he continued.

"We've been at the sharp end of every competition we've been in. I can't speak highly enough of the players and supporters."
