Sunderland manager Gus Poyet is on the verge of signing Brighton winger Will Buckley, Goal understands.
The Black Cats tried and failed to sign Buckley in January when they successfully landed team-mate Liam Bridcutt and Poyet is set to raid his former club once more.
Goal can confirm a deal worth an initial £2.5million has been agreed between the two clubs with the 24-year-old now due in the North East to talk personal terms with Sunderland, with the transfer expected to be completed before the Premier League kicks off this weekend.
Buckley played no part in Brighton's League Cup first round victory over Cheltenham Town on Tuesday and manager Sami Hyypia has hinted that a transfer is imminent.
"He wasn't available for selection." said the former Liverpool and Finland defender.
"I think you'll hear (why) in a few days."
Buckley has spent three years on the south coast, scoring 19 goals in 107 games in that time.
