Ipswich manager Paul Jewell has been promised funds for January
Tractor Boys boss has been assured by club officials that he will be given money to go out and buy players after Christmas, in order to improve their fortunes on the pitch

Ipswich manager Paul Jewell has been assured by the board that there will be money available for him to spend on new players in January.
The Tractor Boys recently announced that they had made profits of over £130,000 in the 12 months leading up to June, which is in stark contrast to the last two years where they recovered combined loses of £24 million.
Jewell will be hoping to take advantage of the club’s improved financial state as he will need to improve his squad over January if he wants to take them up into the Premier League.
Chief executive Simon Clegg told Sky Sports News: “If Paul needs to bring in additional players and can convince the owner he has identified the players at the right price, then support will be there.
“It needs to be caveated with the sale of Jon Walters to Stoke and Connor Wickham to Sunderland. That generated a significant amount of income."This is a bit of an extraordinary year. But any club in the current climate, with the current state of football finances, would be delighted to be showing a pre-tax and pre-interest profit."

"[Gary] Cahill I suppose is slightly more of a concern for me because it is a jaw injury. We're desperately hoping the CT scan doesn't show any fracture and it's just going to be a bruising situation, which will be bad enough, but won't stop him taking part in the tournament. As far as John's [Terry] concerned he felt his hamstring a little bit. Again it wasn't a major thing when he came off but we still need to scan it just to be 100 per cent sure."
Suffice to say, if Cahill has broken his jaw, he won't play any part in the tournament.
