A new campaign to kick-off in English football's lower leagues will be aiming to showcase that attending football matches can be fun and entertaining for all the familyThe Football League announced on Wednesday the launching of a new program aiming to show that football can provide entertainment for the whole family.
Family Football Festival is a 47-match program throughout the lower divisions that will be looking to attract new families to the game to demonstrate the safe and exciting environment that can be experienced in English football.
"Football is a sport that appeals to the whole family and League clubs have experienced bumper family attendances in recent seasons," David Malkinson, Head of Marketing at the Football League, said.
"League football is extremely accessible, offers good value for money and provides a place where families can enjoy each other’s company as well as the action on the pitch.
"I encourage families to go along to their local game and enjoy some football together-time."
As well as watching the action unfold on the pitch, families will be able to participate in fancy dress competitions, face painting and enjoy the half-time entertainment and the numerous grounds involved in the incentive.
The Football League's Family Football Festival is set to get underway from the beginning of October until December with clubs including Leicester City, Derby County, Nottingham Forest and Reading all getting involved.
