‘Manchester United's glaring weakness is in central midfield’ - Goal.com’s Greg Stobart answers your weekly Twitter Q&A
When will Balotelli start smiling in his celebrations? Does Luis Suarez need a new strike partner at Liverpool? What is going on at Chelsea? Goal.com's Greg Stobart explains
Another bumper weekend of Premier League action awaits, with Manchester City looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season with a visit to Liverpool on Sunday, and Newcastle United's trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.
Goal.com correspondent Greg Stobart was on hand for our weekly Twitter Q&A session, answering your questions on everything and anything Premier League-related.
Below are snippets of the best questions submitted to him, but you can read the full Q&A here.
Will Mario Balotelli finally celebrate with a smile if he scores against Liverpool this weekend? - Karim Sawaf
Greg Stobart: “Unlikely. Mario Balotelli has said previously that he will wait until the biggest stage – a Champions League or World Cup final – before celebrating with a smile. Roberto Mancini has been asked about Balotelli's sullen celebrations and he simply puts it down to the Italian's desire to project an uber-cool image on the pitch.
“Whether he smiles or not, Balotelli looks very happy at the moment and has built a strong relationship with his team-mates, which could not always be said in the past.”
Do Liverpool need to bring in a top class finisher alongside Luis Suarez, such as Kop legend Robbie Fowler? - David Bernstein
GS: “If Luis Suarez has one fault, it is his profligate finishing. The Liverpool striker is a magician on the ball but he has scored just four Premier League goals this season from 54 shots. Andy Carroll was the man brought in to play alongside him and put the ball in the back of the net, but he has failed to produce the goods. I think it is an area where Liverpool could improve.
“I know Damien Comolli, Liverpool's director of football, has been watching Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao, which suggests he is thinking along the same lines.”
Manchester United might not have splashed out in January much over the years but would a new signing help Wayne Rooney? - Shreyas Hebbar
GS: “I think the glaring weakness in the Manchester United squad is in central midfield. With the news told that Anderson will be sidelined until January, the only fit central midfielders in the squad are Darren Fletcher, Michael Carrick, Darron Gibson and, at a push, Ryan Giggs. That is not good enough for a side with aspirations of winning the Premier League and the Champions League.
“In an ideal world, Sir Alex Ferguson would sign two midfielders. The Scot selected Luka Modric as his player of the year last season and the Tottenham playmaker would be perfect for United. I think United also need a more defensive minded midfielder, despite Carrick's decent form in recent weeks. Someone like Javi Martinez from Athletic Bilbao would be a very useful signing.”
What is the problem with Chelsea at the moment? - Ahmad Muhammad
GS: “I think that Chelsea's short-term problem is a lack of confidence and tactical failures, most notably the much-criticised high defensive line that has allowed opponents to create chances far too easily.
“From a longer-term point of view, there is a sense that this group of players is coming to the end of an era and, frankly, they aren't that good anymore. The players that formed the nucleus of Chelsea's great squad under Jose Mourinho are now well into their 30s and still playing, but at a far lower level. John Terry has been terrible this season, Ashley Cole looks off the pace, Frank Lampard is struggling to influence games while Didier Drogba may be better than Fernando Torres, but he can no longer bully Premier League defences.
Having not won a trophy since 2005, can Arsenal finally win some silverware this year? – jhquest
GS: “I have been surprised by just how strongly Arsenal have responded to the early season turmoil at the Emirates Stadium. I still don't see the Gunners as title challengers, nor do I think they have the quality to win the Champions League. Arsenal's best bet will be in one of the domestic cups – I think they will beat Manchester City in the League Cup quarter-final on Tuesday.
“The key for Arsenal this season is, without doubt, keeping Robin van Persie fit. The Dutchman has been in scintillating form so far this term and has almost single-handedly dragged Arsenal up the league.”

"[Gary] Cahill I suppose is slightly more of a concern for me because it is a jaw injury. We're desperately hoping the CT scan doesn't show any fracture and it's just going to be a bruising situation, which will be bad enough, but won't stop him taking part in the tournament. As far as John's [Terry] concerned he felt his hamstring a little bit. Again it wasn't a major thing when he came off but we still need to scan it just to be 100 per cent sure."
Suffice to say, if Cahill has broken his jaw, he won't play any part in the tournament.
