Pick your Liverpool team to face Unirea Urziceni
Who should start for Reds against Romanians?
Picking a Rafael Benitez team is never easy, but here is the chance for Goal.com UK readers to do just that.
It may not be the showpiece event of a Champions League clash, but Liverpool welcome Romanian champions Unirea Urziceni to Anfield on Thursday night with plenty to play for, notably a place in the last 16 of the Europa League.
Jamie Carragher is a major doubt for Benitez's men, having collected a groin problem in the defeat by Arsenal, so Swiss star Philipp Degen (who was added to the European squad after initially being omitted), will fight it out with youngsters Stephen Darby and Martin Kelly to deputise at full-back.
Elsewhere, Glen Johnson, Fernando Torres and Yossi Benayoun are all expected to miss a further three weeks due to injury, but Alberto Aquilani has recovered from a virus and could return to the starting line-up.
Sotirios Kyrgiakos, suspended for the Arsenal game, is also available for selection, though will have a job displacing Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel. New signing Maxi Rodriguez is cup-tied, having already represented Atletico Madrid in Europe this term.
With that in mind, here is Goal.com UK's selection, using Benitez's trusted 4-2-3-1 formation:
Reina, Degen, Skrtel, Agger, Insua, Lucas, Mascherano, Kuyt, Gerrard, Riera, Ngog
No real surprises, with Maxi replaced by the natural left-sided width of Albert Riera. David Ngog may not have impressed at Arsenal, but has shown enough to merit a starting place. Aquilani would be disappointed to miss out, but the form of both Lucas Leiva and Javier Mascherano - who is a candidate for the right-back role if needed, sees them start ahead of the Italian.
