The Dutchman emphatically scotched reports suggesting this will be his last season at Old Trafford, but will he take his chance to walk away from the club this summer?
In one of Thursday evening's more surprising developments, Robin van Persie broke his silence to insist in no uncertain terms that he is happy at Manchester United.
The Dutchman has cut a disillusioned figure at Old Trafford all season, with new boss David Moyes preferring to build his attacking unit around a revitalised Wayne Rooney.

After narrowly avoiding a red card against West Brom on Saturday, Van Persie looked less than pleased to be substituted by Moyes, and on Monday Goal revealed he has an exit clause in his contract that allows him to talk to other clubs if United - as is now almost certain - miss out on a top four place.
But the man himself insists he is going nowhere. "The truth is I’m very happy here at this club," he told United's official website.
"I signed for four years and I’d be delighted to stay even longer, beyond the next two years I have left on my contract. I’m very happy with my team-mates and I’m very happy with my manager and his staff.
"I really enjoy working under [Moyes] and I’m absolutely convinced things will pick up and we’ll turn it around. He really wants things to work here at Manchester United and I want the same, just like the other players. We’re all working hard to make this work."
It all sounds pretty emphatic, but doth the lady protest too much? Will Van Persie still be at United next season, or will he take his chance to walk away this summer?
