With Fifa revealing the 23-man shortlist for the standout performer of 2013, including Gareth Bale, which player gets your vote to win the ultimate individual accolade?
Has the Ballon d'Or dominance by Lionel Messi finally come to an end this year or will the Barcelona forward claim a fifth straight honour?
World-record signing Gareth Bale has joined Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Franck Ribery among the leading contenders to win this year's award.
Bale joined Madrid this summer for £86 million following 26 goals for Tottenham which saw him crowned the PFA Players' Player of the Year. Madrid team-mate Ronaldo has been the Barca star's main rival for the award but, following Bayern Munich’s Champions League success last term, Franck Ribery is a strong contender to win.
Despite the inclusion of five Premier League players, including Robin van Persie, Luis Suarez, Yaya Toure, Eden Hazard and Mesut Ozil, there is no Englishman on the list as Wayne Rooney has failed to make the cut.
The winners are set to be announced on January 13, 2014 in Zurich.
Who would you rather see win the award? Will this finally be the year Ronaldo ends Messi's reign or will Ribery or Bale walk away with the ultimate prize?
