A massive £140 million was forked out by the 20 clubs in England's top division with deals being confirmed right up to the 23.00BST deadline on Monday.

Arsenal smashed their transfer record, as Arsene Wenger finally spent big on a marquee signing, by shelling out £40m on Germany international midfielder Mesut Ozil.

Marouane Fellaini left it late but sealed a £27.5m move to Manchester United from Everton. The move reunites with former boss David Moyes.

Liverpool made three early captures on deadline day. Victor Moses joined on a season-long from rivals Chelsea while France international defender Mamadou Sakho arrived at Anfield from PSG for £15m.

Elsewhere, Romelu Lukaku and Gareth Barry both joined Everton on loan for a year, with James McCarthy arriving on a permanent deal.

Peter Odemwingie finally completed a move to Cardiff City and Stephane Sessegnon joined West Brom for a club-record fee.
