Some clubs have already started their pre-season fixtures yet a whole host of top clubs kick off this weekend, but which star signing will make the biggest impression? Many Premier League sides get their pre-season preparations underway this weekend and there will be a number of fresh and excited faces looking to make an early impression.
Roberto Martinez takes charge of his first game as Everton manager on Sunday in a friendly against Austria Vienna, fresh from the triple purchase of former Wigan charges Joel Robles, Antolin Alcaraz and Arouna Kone. The Ivorian striker was a hit last year for the relegated Latics and could go some way to ousting Nikica Jelavic from the starting XI.
Meanwhile in the north of England, Liverpool take on Preston in their first fixture of the off-season, and manager Brendan Rodgers will be hoping one of Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto will go some way to show why he acquired the Spaniards.
Manual Pellegrini has taken his squad on a short tour of South Africa with the first fixture taking place on Saturday against SuperSport United. Jesus Navas has been excluded from the trip after his involvement in the Confederations Cup with Spain, however midfielder Fernandinho will be available to show off his £30 million talent.
At the other side of Manchester, David Moyes welcomes Wilfried Zaha into his first Manchester United squad. The winger joined the club in January but returned to Crystal Palace for the rest of the season on loan, earning the extra-time penalty that saw his side victorious. He will be eager to impress in Bangkok ahead of their tour opener against a Singha All-Star XI on Saturday.
Finally, Jose Mourinho will have three new additions to the squad inherited from Rafa Benitez. Exciting midfield prospect Marco van Ginkel will strive to make a mark on his new manager as he looks to establish a place in the Netherlands squad for next summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil. Andre Schurrle is another big money addition to the Premier League and will also be available, as will bosman-signing Mark Schwarzer.
Who do you think will make the biggest impression on their pre-season debuts? Will big-money signing Fernandinho catch the eye, or will one of Martinez's familiar faces from Wigan bed in best on their debuts?
