The Aston Villa striker told the club that he wants to leave this summer only a year after arriving from Genk - is he within his rights to force through a move so soon?
News broke on Monday night that Christian Benteke has handed in a transfer request after only a single season at Aston Villa.
The Belgium international arrived at Villa Park from Genk last summer and instantly became a vital part of Paul Lambert's team but the 22-year-old is now trying to force his way out of the club.
As exclusively revealed by Goal, his 19-goal Premier League debut first drew Liverpool and Tottenham into action this summer, with Chelsea also now preparing a bid after being thwarted in their pursuit of Edinson Cavani.
Is it ungrateful for Benteke to hand in a transfer request after only a year at Villa Park, however? Lambert's side spent approximately £7 million to bring him from Genk to the Premier League last summer before trusting him to lead them away from relegation - should he leave them in the lurch?
