The transfer window has now slammed shut but several high-profile players used the final day to switch clubs, and we want to know who will prove to be the best bit of late business
Once again deadline day was a frenzy of transfer activity as clubs all over Europe attempted to finalise their squads before the close of the transfer window.
Manchester City, unsurprisingly, splashed the cash yet again by snapping up Benfica midfielder Javi Garcia in a deal reported to be worth up to £18 million.
While rivals Manchester United were quiet on deadline day, one man who did move was striker Dimitar Berbatov who, despite interest from a number of clubs, headed to Fulham and Martin Jol for a mere £4m - compared with the £30.75m fee involved when he moved from Tottenham to United on deadline day 2008.
Spurs once again left it late to dip into the transfer market and whilst they failed with a bid for Joao Moutinho they did manage to bring in both Hugo Lloris and beat Liverpool to the signing of Clint Dempsey.
However, one of the most intriguing moves came down at newly-promoted Southampton, who managed to snap up the very highly-rated Gaston Ramirez from Bologna for a club record £12 million.
Of course there were plenty of other moves, but what we want to know is, who was the best deadline-day signing?
