Liverpool fans may deny it, but Everton is still the fixture they look out for when the season’s list is published. On Saturday at Anfield, Merseyside’s two great powers will meet for the 213th time as Red welcomes Blue to L4.

Rafa Benitez’s men won the last meeting between the sides – 2-0 at Goodison Park back in November – but David Moyes’ men have found their form since then, and they will make the short trip across Stanley Park confident of recording a first victory on enemy soil since September 1999.

So who will triumph at Anfield this weekend? Goal.com UK asked the natives of Merseyside who they think will take the city’s bragging rights come Saturday afternoon....

Simon Marsh, 64, Aigburth, Bus Driver
“It’s a tight one this year, because Everton are on the way up and Liverpool are getting results lately. I think a draw sounds about right, which will suit me as a Blue!”

Gary Oldfield, 18, Broad Green, Student
“Rafa gets it right when he needs to, and I think the Reds will take it comfortably. Gerrard and Aquilani to score, 2-0 to Liverpool.”

Rachael Soo, 21, Maghull, Waitress
“Everton haven’t won at Anfield in years, and I can’t see that changing. Liverpool have to win really and they will. It’ll be close though.”

Paul Middleton, 26, Old Swan, Marketing Assistant
“Every year Liverpool seem to get cockier, and every year Everton keep their heads down. This year Everton will wipe the smile off the Kopites’ faces. 2-1, Landon and Saha.”

Stephen Richards, 41, Dingle, Security Guard
“I think it depends what side Rafa puts out. If he plays Aquilani from the start, Liverpool will win. But if he goes negative and sticks Lucas and Mascherano together, I can see a goalless draw, or even Everton nicking it by the odd goal.”

George Turner, 63, West Kirby, Retired
“Everton never win at Anfield, so forget that for a start! I think it’ll be three-each. Three for Gerrard and three for Aquilani!”

Peter Clark, 24, Warrington, Student
“I think it’ll be a draw. Maybe 1-1. I think Cahill will score for Everton – as usual – and probably Gerrard for Liverpool. Was that the same as last season?”

Kieran Hirst, 26, Aintree, Delivery Driver
“Draw. The derby is very rarely a classic game. It’s usually fast and furious and really tight, and I think this will be the same. 1-1, with both goals scored from set-pieces.”

Lorna Jeffries, 46, Chester, Housewife
“My son is a Liverpool season-ticket holder, so I’ve got to say Liverpool haven’t I?! But I think that Fellaini will be a threat. Maybe 2-1 Liverpool, a close one.”

Gareth Roberts, 33, Croxteth, Teacher
“Liverpool 1-0 Everton: Game will be more fight than flair – and both sides have got plenty of that right now. Think Liverpool will just shade it with Kyrgiakos key for the Reds.”
