CATANIA
Andujar: 7.5 – Like his opposite number he was called into action at key moments of the game. Didn’t disappoint in keeping his goal protected and provided the platform for a late victory.
Alvarez: 7.5 – Stood his ground at the back, and provided a vital assist for Maxi Lopez’s leveller.
Silvestre: 6.5 – Will be ruing the manner in which the visitors took the lead, but came back to avoid any chances of conceding further.
Terlizzi: 7 – Kept things organised at the back for the entire 90 minutes. His leadership left the Nerazzurri scrapping up top as they searched for the illusive winner.
Capuano: 6 – Made a number of decisive interventions, but won’t be happy with how easily he let Eto’o slip through, to set up the opening goal.
Izco: 7 – Spread play to great effect in the middle of the park getting the better of Cambiasso in the opening period. Appeared to tire towards the end, but continued to run his socks off as he protected his side’s precious victory against the league leaders.
Biagianti: 7 – Conceded little down the middle and found an impressive energy reserve to push his side onto victory.
Ricchiuti: 5 – Should have hit the target with a golden chance early on, and was denied another shortly before the break following Lucio’s block.
Martinez: 8.5 – Added a spectacular solo finish to bury Inter’s hopes of a late victory. Burned Lucio in spectacular fashion leaving the visitors with their tails between their legs in preparation for the trip to Stamford Bridge.
M.Lopez: 7 - The Argentine buried his first goal in front of the Massimino faithful and proved decisive in turning around the tie, just as the Nerazzurri looked in control.
Mascara: 7.5– Scored an audacious penalty kick to send the Etnei faithful into raptures and kill off Inter's hope of another trademark late winner.
Substitutions
Delvecchio: 6.5 – Came on at a key moment of the game and didn’t disappoint as he aided Catania’s push forward.
Carboni: N/A – Added some vital cover when the visitors looked their most desperate.
Potenza: N/A – Given a late run out during a phase when the side were focused on not conceding.
INTER
J.Cesar: 6 – Made some extraordinary stops in the opening period to keep his sheet clean and leave the scores in tact for the second half.
Maicon: 5.5 – Made some good bursts forward and was the visitors only real attacking threat in the opening period. He could have opened up further chances for the Nerazzurri had he been a more direct at times.
Lucio: 4 - The big defender made a decisive block on Ricchiuti shortly before the break to keep things level despite the Catania dominance. He will be ruing the manner in which Martinez burned him late on to seal the win for the home side.
Materazzi: 5 – The sparely used defender rarely put a foot wrong all night, but was made to look amateur as his tired legs betrayed him for the Elefanti’s third.
Zanetti: 5 – The captain tried to carry his side forward in the final half hour but like the rest of the team he seemed to lack direction as the home midfield moved into overdrive.
Stankovic: 4.5 – Rarely caused a nuisance down the middle, and was left isolated by the tactical choices of his fellow countryman and former colleague.
Cambiasso: 4.5 – The Argentine will want to forget this evening’s performance quickly after having failed to stamp his authority in a crucial moment of the match.
Mariga: 5.5 – Gave a determined display in the middle of the park, but looked a little under the cosh, as the Etnei pressed forward incessantly early on.
Sneijder: 5 – Couldn’t offer the spark down the middle and was restricted by the home side’s impressive marking.
Eto’o: 6 – Showed great determination and movement up top despite a lack dynamism from the midfield. Generously laid off to Milito for Inter’s opener, but should surely be finding the net more, given the reputation that precedes him.
D.Milito: 6.5 – Once again proved to be in the right place in the right time, as he so often has this season. Couldn’t be faulted for the loss given his work rate up top.

Quaresma: 6 – The winger changed Inter’s make-up upon entry and deserves praise for opening up the home side down the flanks.
Pandev: N/A – The Macedonian was unable to make an impact as the game started to slip away from the Nerazzurri.
Muntari: N/A –Doesn’t even merit a one, for the manner in which he turned the game on its head just seconds after his entry. The Ghanaian will need a lot of courage to come back from this latest fiasco.
