Fiorentina and Sampdoria looking to make move for Aston Villa striker John Carew - report
John Carew could move to Serie A this summer as Fiorentina and Sampdoria are interested in the Aston Villa striker.
The Norwegian international has only a year left on his current Villa deal, which pays the big striker £52,000-a-week.
Villa are looking to sell the 30-year-old, who played with Roma from 2003-2004, in order to raise money for new players.
Carew is a favourite of the Villa supporters, scoring 52 goals in 122 appearances since coming over from Lyon in the winter of 2007.
However, with Villa owner Randy Lerner looking to improve the financial standing of the club, Carew could be sacrificed this summer, according to The Mirror.
Fenerbahce are also interested in Carew, whose sale could fund bids for strikers like Tottenham Hotspur’s Robbie Keane or Fulham’s Bobby Zamora.
