Aston Villa eyeing swoop for Monaco forward Eidur Gudjohnsen - report
By Zack Wilson
Aston Villa are eyeing a loan move for AS Monaco forward Eidur Gudjohnsen, according to a report from The Sun.
The Icelandic international impressed during a loan spell at Tottenham Hotspur in the second half of the season, despite scoring only two goals.
Villa boss Martin O'Neill is believed to want to bring the 31-year-old in on a season-long loan deal.
The former Chelsea forward's goalscoring rate has not been anything exceptional since he left England to play for Barcelona and subsequently Monaco, but O'Neill aparently feels that Gudjohnsen is a player who always produces his best form whilst playing in England.
That could mean that Emile Heskey will be on his way out of Villa Park, with Stoke City believed to be interested after having had a bid for West Ham United's Carlton Cole turned down.
