Cristiano Ronaldo assures president Florentino Perez Real Madrid will win La Liga - report
Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly moved to quell the continuing anger of president Florentino Perez following the Spainish giants Champions League exit, by promising the La Liga.
Perez's ambitious project of building a team that would reach the Champions League final in the Santiago Bernabeu this season came to an ignominious end in the last-16.
However, Marca reports that Ronaldo, along with a number of other senior squad members, had the opportunity to speak with the supremo and offered him a message of hope and optimism.
The Portuguese forward is reported to have told Perez that he must be "calm" and gave assurances that los Blancos "will win the league".
The former Manchester United winger also explained that the team's excellent work so far this season must not be forgotten.
Real Madrid currently lead the Primera Division on goal difference from Barcelona, although the two sides' head to head record will be decisive should they end the season on equal points.
Los Merengues will be looking to extend their lead at the summit of the league on Saturday evening when they host Sporting Gijon at the Bernabeu, while the Blaugrana travel to Real Zaragoza for the last game of the weekend on Sunday night.
