Report: Manchester City defender Wayne Bridge will miss a month following hernia surgery
Manchester City left-back Wayne Bridge will miss about a month of football after he underwent hernia surgery on Tuesday, according to the Daily Mail.
The 29-year-old had been playing through the pain of late, but an operation was the only solution after Bridge exacerbated the injury in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
It has been an extremely tough year for the England international, with troubles coming on and off the field all season.
Bridge has struggled to find consistent form this season, his first full term with City after coming over from Chelsea last January.
Off-the-pitch controversy surrounded Bridge when it was reported that former England team-mate John Terry had an affair with his ex-girlfriend.
Bridge, who had earned 36 caps with the Three Lions, decided that he would quit international football so that he would not be on the same squad as Terry.
Man City will be without their left-back for upcoming games with Fulham, Wigan Athletic, Burnley and Birmingham City, with Bridge looking towards an April 17 matchup with Manchester United as a return date.
