West Ham United are seeking buyers for Italian midfielder Alessandro Diamanti according to The Daily Telegraph.

New Hammers owner David Sullivan has reportedly questioned the £6 million the club paid Italian side Livorno last summer for the attacking midfielder.

The eccentric 26-year-old has made 20 appearances for Gianfranco Zola this season, scoring six goals in the process.

However, the financial situation at Upton Park has forced the new owners, David Sullivan and David Gold, to re-think the club's finances and a clear-out this summer appears to be the likely option.

Diamanti is likely to return to Italy, after being linked with European giants AC Milan during the January transfer window.

The attacking midfielder had previously spent his entire playing career in his homeland before joining West Ham as an unknown quantity in last summer's transfer window.

His passion and performances on the pitch have made him a fans' favourite at the London club, but his time in the capital appears to coming to an end.
