AC Milan to use Klaas-Jan Huntelaar as bargaining chip in bid for Manchester United's Nemanja Vidic - report
AC Milan are planning to throw in striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar as part of a deal to prise defender Nemanja Vidic away from Manchester United, according to The Mirror.
The Serbia international has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the summer, with Real Madrid and Milan being mooted as possible destinations.
It is said that the Rossoneri see the former Spartak Moscow centre-half as the perfect replacement for the ageing and injury-prone Alessandro Nesta, and hope that a move to Serie A may prove an attractive option for Vidic as his wife is believed to be unhappy with life in England.
Meanwhile, the Italian club reportedly believe that Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson is interested in the services of Huntelaar, and are consequently considering whether the Dutchman could be used as bait to help capture Vidic.
