Fabio Capello will select Manchester City defender Wayne Bridge for England's match against Egypt on 3 March, says Mirror Football.
The Italian's assistant, Franco Baldini, has spoken to the left back twice in the week since news broke of John Terry's alleged affair with Vanessa Perroncel, Bridge's former partner and mother of his child.
The player's England future now depends on his willingness to play and train alongside Terry for his country, with indications suggesting that the pair have reconciled their differences enough to cooperate on the pitch.
Bridge has maintained a dignified silence over the affair and on Saturday made his playing return in a 2-1 defeat against Hull City after two months out with a knee injury.
It is also reported that 17 England squad members have now called Bridge to encourage him not to retire from the international stage.
The 29-year-old is a strong contender for Capello's World Cup squad as back-up for Ashley Cole.
Capello's own stance appears to be simple: having disciplined and demoted Terry, he will select both players if they are fit and willing.
