The England under-21 international has earned rave reviews in the Championship and would be back-up to Heurelho Gomes at White Hart Lane.
Rumours linking the player with Spurs first emerged in November as goalkeeping coach Tony Parks supposedly watched him from the stands. Arsenal and Aston Villa have also been reported as holding an interest.
Manager Harry Redknapp has been eager to add another keeper to his Tottenham squad after Carlo Cudicini's long term injury absence following a motorbike accident.
With Cudicini sidelined, Jimmy Walker and Ben Alnwick have failed to convince they are able deputies as Spurs push for a Champions League place.
Manchester United's Ben Foster and Portsmouth prodigy Asimir Begovic were also supposed to be on Redknapp's shopping list.
