Leeds United's resiliance over their attempts to maintain the services of striker Jermaine Beckford until the end of the season may be tested again when Everton return with an improved offer for the forward ranked third in the League One goalscorers this season.
The Mirror claims that Toffees manager David Moyes, who recently released Manchester City forward Jo from his loan deal, is readying a £2 million bid for Beckford.
Beckford, 26, whose exploits in the FA Cup against both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have sealed his contemporary fame, told Goal.com UK earlier this month that he would prefer a move to Newcastle United.
However, Leeds hoped to hang on to Beckford until the expiration of his contract this summer, as the goals that he has brought to the club's promotion push have been deemed to be of greater value than any incoming transfer fee.
The Times, meanwhile, have reported that Moyes instead will look to secure a loan move for AC Milan outcast Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
