Manchester United have turned down an approach from Tottenham Hotspur for goalkeeper Ben Foster, according to a report from Sky Sports News.
Stoke City had been reported as turning their attentions to Foster afer their move for Portsmouth's David James broke down last week.
Spurs were also believed to be interested in taking James to White Hart Lane but it seems now that they may have been looking elsewhere.
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has been in the market for a goalkeeper since Carlo Cudicini's motorcycle accident earlier in the season.
Rangers Allan McGregor and Celtic's Artur Boruc had been mooted as possible recruits, as Redknapp seeks compeition and cover for Heurelho Gomes.
There is no indication yet as to whether Spurs' bid for Foster was for a loan or a premanent deal.
